Adam Schlesinger


Born in NYC on 31 October 1967, AS is an Emmy and Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist record producer who is also bassist in the band Fountains of Wayne. He has written songs and musical scores for film, T.V. and Broadway theatre. He was nominated for an Academy Award for the title song of the 1996 film That Thing You Do!

Ed Sheeran


Born Edward Christopher Sheeran, in Halifax, West Yorkshire, 17 February 1991, ES is a singer-songwriter, guitarist and record producer. He released his debut album “+” in 2011, after signing with Asylum Records. In 2012, he won an Ivor Novello Award for his song “The A Team” (Best Song Musically and Lyrically). In 2015 he won an Ivor Novello for Songwriter of the Year.

Paul Simon


Born in Newark, New Jersey, 13 October 1941, PS is a singer-songwriter and musician, best known for his partnership with Art Garfunkel in the duo Simon & Garfunkel. In 2006, Time magazine called him one of “The 100 People Who Shape Our World”.

Elliott Smith


Born Steven Paul Smith in Omaha, Nebraska, 6 August, 1969, (died L.A., 21 October, 2003), ES was an American singer-songwriter, guitarist and pianist. Raised primarily in Texas, he lived for much of his life in Portland, OR. Smith suffered from depression, alcoholism and drug dependence, and these topics often appear in his lyrics. He died from two stab wounds to the chest. The autopsy evidence was inconclusive as to whether the wounds were self-inflicted. He released five albums. Two albums have been released posthumously: From A Basement On A Hill (2004) and New Moon (2007).

Regina Spektor


Born Regina Ilyinichna Spektor, 18 February 1980, in Moscow. RS is an American-naturalised singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Her music is associated with the “anti-folk” scene centered on NYC's East Village. She graduated with honours from NYU’s Conservatory of Music in 2001. Her songs show influences from folk, jazz, punk, rock, Jewish, Russian, hip-hop and classical music. Her 2001 debut album, 11:11, was self-released on CD and sold at her early shows. Rarer, now, than hens’ teeth!

KT Tunstall


Born Kate Victoria Tunstall, 23 June 1975 in St Andrews, Scotland, KT is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, who plays guitar, piano and drums. KT achieved huge commercial and critical success with her multi-million selling debut album Eye To The Telescope in 2004. She is the recipient of a BRIT Award and an Ivor Novello Award. She has also been nominated for a Grammy and a Mercury Prize.
